I am a 27 year veteran of the chemical industry in New Jersey where I held global positions in R&D, Business Management and Entrepreneurship. Prior to joining the NJIT Incubator in 2006, I was Associate Director of Business Relations at the New Jersey Commission on Science and Technology. I am the President of the New Jersey Incubation Network until my term ends this June. New Jersey's 13 technology incubators are doing a terrific job growing the tech based economy in New Jersey. They supported 570 entrepreneurial companies in 2007 which employed 1700 people. The combined revenue of our companies was $200 mil last year and they brought in an additional $130 mil in 3rd party funding since coming into the incubators. Typical stay in an incubator is 3 to 5 years.
I attended the Stanford Executive Institute for Women and Leadership, did a post doc in Chemistry at the University of Maryland, hold a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut, a Masters from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and bachelors in Chemistry and Math from Douglass College. I hold patents, and am a published scientific author. I've run for elected office and have lost, won and lost, in that order.
Hi Michel,
I am a Philadelphia-area based business development consultant. I am especially interested in helping early stage, university and DARPA backed start-ups get their ideas to market. I spent the last year doing this for an MIT spin-off and found it very exciting. My background is primarily semiconductors (including ASICs, RF and optoelectronics) and I have broad general interest in communication, alternative energy, electronics, RFID, and video and imaging applications. My research has identified has you as an influential thought leader in building academic and government backed incubators. I am working to expand my knowledge and contacts in the local entrepreneurial community. Therefore I would be very pleased to connect with you and to learn more about the clients at NJMC and the other New Jersey incubators. Would it be possible for us to chat briefly sometime over the next few weeks? Perhaps a visit and tour of your facility would be possible?
Sincerely,
Tim Rainear
