The NJTC is considering holding an Expo that will focus on the IT used by shippers (ports, air, train, truck) and security issues. Our audience would be IT managers responsible for product movement, and the shipping companies themselves.
Do you see this as a hot topic? is this something you are interested in participating in? What kinds of companies would be involved, or who are the big players.
Leo,
With New Jersey's strategic geographic position in the movement of goods, and being the base for the supply chain infrastructure of so many major product shippers and transportation companies, I believe the timing would be appropriate to hold an Expo focused on the IT and security issues and solutions companies encounter. I know among the Council's current membership there are a number of companies with specific niches in supply chain improvement, RFID, and transport security. An event as you describe would also be an opportunity to bring new faces from member companies and non-member companies into
contact with the Council community. I know the in-house IT and supply chain staff at many
New Jersey based pharmaceutical and product companies do not avail themselves of the Tech
Council resource because the nature of many events is not to their specific discipline. On a
national scope the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals(CSCMP) and the National Industrial Transportation League have programs for supply chain focused IT professionals.
You might find the framework for an event that would highlight New Jersey companies and resources in the past programs of these organizations.
