New Jersey Technology Council Online Community

"Nothing NANO about NJ's Technology Community?

When I opened the Phill Inquirer last Sunday, I immediately turned to the business pages- as usual. I was excited to see one of my favorite topics, nanotechnology, getting top billing. Until I read a bit further. This article, Nanotechnology: Getting Small is Getting Big, though well-written, assumes that the entire Inquirer readership lives and works in Pennsylvania. I, for one, take exception to the fact that absolutely NO New Jersey nanotech companies were mentioned. What an oversight! Take a read of the article - here's the link… what do you think about this? http://www.philly.com/inquirer/business/20080413_Nanotechnology__Ge...

Maxine -- your post was a memory jogger and catalyst for my joining the online network. I recall the article, and had a similar reaction. My interest was peaked in the first paragraph with the mention of New Jersey. Too bad this was the last mention, as well. I read the entire article to read about the Nanotech businesses in NJ... concluded with disappointment that the reporter's research source must have been a PA-exclusive funding source, such as Ben Franklin. The content was interesting, but the complete omission of New Jersey nanotech activity was negligent -- the state should not have been mentioned if the writer didn't intend to report on it.
Johanna -- thank you for your reply. I'm so pleased that someone else found this serious omission as frustrating as I did.As we both know, NJ has been a founding member of MANA(MIdlantic Nanotechnology Alliance) thus supporting the emerging nano market in this region for the past three years. Actually the Nano sector has been evolving and we've seen more companies in that space than ever before.
